"We Worship God in Spirit and in Truth"
CHURCH HISTORY
Beulah Grove Missionary Baptist Church was established in October 1947, under the leadership of Reverend F. T. Turner at 106 Tenth Street in the city of Leland, Mississippi with nineteen members. The early members of the church were Pastor (Reverend F. T. Turner), Secretary (Sis. Ira Glander), Mother Board (Lizzie Ferguson, Annie Underwood, and Josephine Parker), Deacon Board (John Ferguson, Allen Underwood, Ernest Parker, Albert Thompson, Alex Bradshaw, and Jessie Williams), Usher Board (Corine Bradshaw, Carrie Wilson, and Jessie Bell Howard), and Members (Betty Glander, Louis Williams, Julius Augusta, Lucy Turner, Lula Williams, and Atlean Black).
On June 21, 1949, the church’s cornerstone was laid by M. W. King Hiram Grand Lodge with an increased membership of fifty-six. The church suffered a great loss in February 1975, when its Pastor and leader Reverend F. T. Turner, succumbed from labor to reward. After the passing of Reverend F. T. Turner, the church elected the Reverend L. C. Adley in June 1975 with another increase in membership of two hundred and two. Due to the increased membership and dedication of its members, Beulah Grove M. B. Church was blessed in 1986 to purchase property at 404 James Trimm Drive in the city of Leland, Mississippi. The would be the future site for the new sanctuary.
In celebration of the new church, a week-long anniversary service was held from Monday, October 17, 1987, to Friday, October 23, 1987. On Sunday, October 25, 1987, members, and community leaders marched to the new sanctuary site, to conduct the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. After the official ribbon cutting ceremony, a week-long dedication service was held from Monday, October 26, 1987, and culminated on Sunday, November 1, 1987. A rebuilt cornerstone was laid in October 1987 by A. E. Lodge #712 F&AM. As a result of the members increased financial support, efforts, and prayers, the church mortgage was completely paid in full in a short time. Throughout the years, the church has been able to upgrade, enhance and beautify the current sanctuary: 1) adding a paved parking lot and purchased a new church van (June 1995) 2) enlarged the choir stand, painted around the baptism pool and installed of television screens (April 1997) 3) purchased a 29-passenger bus, upgraded to the latest technology, installed a fax machine and scanner, purchased a van and cell phones for the transportation members (July 2000) with continuous improvements based on the need yearly.
During all the church’s growth, the church suffered another great loss in August 2006, God called our beloved Pastor, Reverend L. C. Adley, from labor to reward. Although this loss was great, God blessed the church with another true leader sound to His will and His way. Pastor Gregory Tucker was sent by God and elected by the membership to lead us to higher heights in January 2007. One history making moment under Pastor Tucker was the establishment of the First Christian Leadership School in the City of Leland in September of 2017, with Pastor Curtistene Davis as the Coordinator. Pastor Tucker served well until his retirement in May 2022. After his retirement, a pastoral search committee was formed and Reverend Earth Robinson was selected by the membership to serve as Interim Pastor, he served in this capacity until November 2022 when a permanent Pastor was elected. It was by God’s grace and prayer that Reverend Alvin C. Carter was elected as the Fourth Pastor of Beulah Grove M. B. Church beginning on December 1, 2022.
As Beulah Grove M. B. Church continues to grow through its ministry and in the community, the members are constantly reminded to remain humble so the that the Master may be able to point to us, as those who kept the faith, who have stayed in the light for righteousness, and who one-by-one, will answer to a higher call by a Righteous Father. Beulah Grove M. B. Church has been tremendously blessed, and if we continue to be about our Father’s business, we will continue to receive more according to God’s will. Through it all, we as a church family continue to "Worship God in Spirit and in Truth"!
